As the release of Mortal Kombat 11 draws ever closer, we have been blessed with many, many cool reveals of who will be seen in the latest entry in the bloody fighting game series that simply refuses to die (in a good way)
Everyone from Kotal Khan to Noob Saibot has been revealed so far, as well as exciting glimpses at fan favorites like Johnny Cage and…Baraka(?). But all of those character reveals have simply paled in comparison to the reveal of Shang Tsung this past Friday.
Thanks to the weekly Mortal Kombat live stream, the Kombat Cast, we were given confirmation of a brand new Krypt, a feature long associated with Mortal Kombat games where players get to unlock hidden content thanks to in-game currency awarded as you play, as well as a return to Shang Tsung’s island, a stage dating back all the way back to the very first Mortal Kombat game back in 1992. But after all of this and a reveal of Noob Saibot joining the cast, fans and gamers alike were given a brief look at Shag Tsung, the soul devouring sorcerer.
What’s more is that this version of Shang Tsung will be voiced and performed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. That’s right fans, Shang Tsung is being played by frickin’ Shang Tsung. While Mr. Tagawa has had and continues to have a storied career in Hollywood with over one hundred and thirty credits to his name, he is arguably best known for his crimminaly underrated performance as Shang Tsung in the 1995 film adaptation of Mortal Kombat.
It was also announced that Shang will be the first DLC character released after Mortal Kombat 11 hits store shelves on April 26th. While the official Kombat Cast has yet to be released on the official Mortal Kombat youtube page, I’ll leave a link to the page here so you can check out the currant slate of Mortal Kombat content.
But first…a look at Noob Saibot.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released on April 26th, but will also see a closed-beta on March 28th.
